On the outside, everything looks perfect. A good job, steady income, it’s the kind of lifestyle others admire. But inside, something feels off.
This is a theme that comes up often in my coaching sessions. Clients arrive with the trappings of so-called ‘success’ whether that is from promotions, accolades and/or stability in life. Yet deep down, they feel disconnected. Like they’re living someone else’s version of success, expectations from their parents, society, or the carefully filtered stories they scroll past on Instagram.
It’s a strange moment when you realise you’ve been climbing a ladder, only to find it’s leaning against the wrong wall.
The turning point doesn’t come from chasing harder. It comes from pausing, stripping away the noise, and asking “What do I actually want?”
Five Ways to Reconnect With Your Own Dream.
- Redefine success on your own terms.
Forget society’s checklist. What does success look and feel like for you? Write it down. - Look beyond money.
If money wasn’t in the picture, what work would still feel worth doing? That’s usually where your purpose lives. - Check your energy.
Notice what lights you up and what drains you in a typical week. Energy is one of the clearest signals of alignment. - Rethink growth.
Growth isn’t always about climbing higher. Sometimes it’s about slowing down, going deeper, or creating space for what matters. - Be yourself, not a role.
If your “dream” requires you to wear a mask, it’s not really yours. The only version that lasts is the one where you can show up fully as yourself.
The Dream That Lasts.
When your goals are aligned with what fuels your soul, every step feels more purposeful, more grounded and more real.
This isn’t about throwing everything away. It’s about reconnecting with what matters most and having the courage to live by it.
At Kordek Coaching, I work with ambitious professionals, creatives and leaders who are ready to stop climbing someone else’s ladder and start building a life that feels like their own.
You don’t need a bigger dream – you need your dream.
